Lucas Cheadle, PhD

Principal Investigator
Lucas received his PhD in neuroscience from Yale University and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Harvard Medical School before joining Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory as an assistant professor in 2020. Originally from the Chickasaw Nation in rural Oklahoma, Lucas is passionate about research, mentorship, and promoting diversity in academic science. When not in lab, Lucas enjoys rock climbing, playing the banjo, and hanging out with his cat, Charlie.
Andre Machado Xavier, PhD

Postdoctoral Fellow
Andre received his PhD in Molecular biology from Federal University of Sao Paulo - Brazil. Curious by nature and working in the field of neuroscience for over 10 years, his main interest is to simplify the complex nature of the brain. When not in the lab, Andre enjoys riding his bike exploring the forests and parks.
Yohan Auguste

Research Technician I
Yohan Auguste is a French American who graduated from Amherst College in 2020, majoring in neuroscience and music. Outside of lab, he enjoys doing triathlons, composing, and taking care of his planted aquarium.
Jessica Dixon

Undergraduate Student
Jessica is an undergraduate neuroscience and statistics student at Florida State University participating in the Undergraduate Research Program. Outside of lab, she enjoys practicing yoga, cycling, and walking her dog Polar Bear.
Lisa Kimoto

Scientific Administrator
Lisa is born and raised on Long Island. She supports 3 Neuroscientists at Cold Spring Harbor Lab including Dr. Cheadle. She received her BA degree at Stony Brook University. When not at the lab, Lisa enjoys hiking, gardening, playing Mah Jongg and travelling.
Austin Ferro, PhD

Postdoctoral Fellow
Austin recently received his PhD from the University of Minnesota. He is interested in the beautiful interactions between neurons and glia in the brain. When he is not at lab you can find him romping in the woods with his dog Ollie or watching movies with his cat Momo.
Jessica Kahng

Graduate Student
Jessica is a graduate student currently pursuing her Ph.D. at CSHL's School of Biological Sciences. She obtained her undergraduate degree from Bryn Mawr College in 2020. She is currently interested in studying the role of glia during neurodevelopment. When not researching, she enjoys cooking, crafting, and reading comics.

Uma’s hometown is Phoenix, Arizona. She received her undergraduate degree from Arizona State University in biochemistry and physics. In her free time, Uma enjoys baking and reading.
Anne-Sarah Nichitiu

Partners for the Future Student
Anne-Sarah Nichitiu is a first generation American high-school senior at the The Stony Brook School. Passionate about genetics and biophysics, she joined the lab through the Partners for the Future CSHL program. Outside the lab and school, she enjoys drawing, 3D designing, running cross-country, teaching skiing, and helping out at the farm together with her brother.
